A Touch of Whimsy: Memoirs of a Coffee Table
“On Saturday August 22nd, six dancers of The Soda Shop Movement Collective took the stage at the Magnolia Theatre in Fort Collins presenting A Touch of Whimsy: Memoirs of a Coffee Table. Led and choreographed by Artistic Director Conner Horak-Flood, the performance was a full evening of detailed storytelling, elegant clean lines, and thoughtful choreographic choices.
‘When the world seems insurmountable, sometimes a touch of whimsy is exactly what we need to keep going.’ Horak-Flood wrote in his program note. I felt those touches of whimsy throughout the evening, and found myself with a constant smile as small deliberate moments had great impact.”

Meet the Soda Shop Movement Company
“As scary (and risky) as it is to start a professional dance company from scratch, dancers are quite used to navigating these kinds of challenges. The business of being a professional dancer is nothing but risk. We risk our bodies every time we step into the studio or on the stage, not to mention that our careers (regardless of how ‘successful’ they are) are finite.
Because we love the art form, we dance because we have to, not because we want to, which also makes us vulnerable to those looking to exploit our passion. We find fulfillment not in our paycheck but in the art we create, which is always a risk, sometimes terrifying, and more times than not…completely worth it.”
